Murdoku Assistant: your PDF & image solving workspace

A manual Murdoku solving assistant, not an automatic solver. Import your own page, align and lock a grid, then work through the clues with candidate notes.

This tool processes and saves files and notes in your browser; it has no upload feature. Clearing browser data removes progress. Page ads and traffic analytics still follow your privacy settings. Do not import sensitive documents.

How to use the Murdoku PDF assistant

  1. Import a single-page puzzle, a two-page book spread or a photo.
  2. Enter columns and rows independently. Drag the grid onto the map and resize at a corner; its aspect ratio follows the column-to-row ratio.
  3. Lock the grid. Choose a person, tap for candidates or hold to confirm. Unlocking keeps your notes.

Original project & thanks

Thank you to XuPub for creating and publicly sharing MurdokuAssistant. Its PDF/image grid overlay and candidate-note workflow inspired this tool.

This version reimplements the original interaction concept for murdoku.fans. It is not a release by the original author.

What we changed in this version

  • Grid dimensions — Set columns and rows independently from 1 to 64, including 24×24 and rectangular maps.
  • People — Set 1–64 people independently of the grid. Suspects use uppercase A, B, C… (then AA, AB…), skipping V; the final person is always victim V. Exclusions use ×, distinct from person X.
  • Grid alignment — Drag the grid directly, resize proportionally from any corner, then lock its position to solve. Unlocking keeps existing notes.
  • Local progress — Separate saved boards by file, single/two-page layout and page number. Deleting tool data leaves other site settings intact.
  • PDF loading — Use PDF.js 6.4.299 with its worker and rendering resources served by this site, rather than the original CDN dependency.
  • Site integration — Match this site's visual style and add English, Chinese, Spanish and Japanese interfaces with responsive layouts.

Retained workflow: candidate notes, hold to confirm, automatic row/column × marks, erasing, undo and viewing an imported answer PDF. This remains a manual assistant, not an automatic solver.
