Grid
The rectangular playing field divided into cells, rows, columns, and regions.
Explanation
The grid is the crime scene map. It ranges from 6×6 for very easy cases to 16×16 for expert cases. Each cell is a potential suspect location. The grid is overlaid with colored regions that group cells into named areas.
Example
A 6×6 grid has 36 cells, 6 rows, and 6 columns. A 16×16 grid has 256 cells — which is why expert cases are dramatically harder.
