Coordinate note: R1 means row 1, C1 means column 1, and R1C1 is the upper-left cell. These hints are the official English text.
(D) is with someone in the Hallway. Because they cannot be in the same row, either one must be in row 6, in the only Hallway square: R6C4. Block the rest of R6 and C4. Also, block the non-Hallway squares in R5.(B) cannot be sitting in a chair per H's clue. This isolates (B) in the last square beside a plant without a chair : R9C9. This isolates (A) in the last square in the Reading Room without a chair, which isolates (H) in the last chair. This isolates (E) on the last carpet square.
(D) and the person with (D) in the Hallway must be in C4 and C5, in any order. No one else can occupy these two columns, block the rest of C5. This isolates (C) in the last square in the Archives, which isolates (G) in the last square beside a box.(F) can only be one row north of (D) by being in R5. This isolates (D) and (F), then (V) in the last square. (V) was alone with (G), Gideon is the murderer!
