Coordinate note: R1 means row 1, C1 means column 1, and C1R1 is the upper-left cell. The grid is 9×9.
The general clue says "There was exactly one person on a carpet." First, figure out who the one person is that can only stand on the carpet.
Mark all possible positions for G. You'll find G can only stand on the carpet. The red-boxed positions are ruled out by C and E's clues — G cannot be in the last column or beside a plant. Combined with A's clue, G can only be at C1R4. With G fixed, B can only be on the bed in the upper right. So cross out everything in column C8 except the bed. Likewise, cross out everything in A's row. H is on a chair, and because of E's clue, the chairs in the red box are all beside plants. H can only be on the chair at C3R5.
All hint layers are open. Use the solved board only to check your final placement.
