Amongst (B), (C), and (E), we know (C) cannot be the woman in the Cabin with (A) since she’s in R5. We can also rule out (B) because she is required to be one row above (H). If (B) were in the Cabin with (A), (H) would occupy one of the bottom three rows, which cannot be accommodated. This means (E) is the woman in the Cabin with (A). We can place (E) in the chair in R7C7. Cross out all other chairs.(H) can only be R1C1 or R2C6, but since (B) is one row above (H), (H) can't be in R1 – so (H) is R2C6 and (B) is in R1. Since (D) is south of (A), (A) is R8C9. Cross out all other Cabin squares.(F) is beside a tree with someone north of him beside the same tree. He can't be in R6 (that's R6C1 with (C), leaving no room for (D), who's west of (F)). So (F) is in R4, at C2 or C3 – cross out the rest of R4. The R3 person must be beside the same tree, so R3C1 or C2 – cross out the rest of R3.With (F) down to two squares, (D) must be in the Shed to be west of him – cross out the rest of R9. C8 now has only one square left, so cross out everything intersecting R6C8. C1 and C2 must hold (D) and the tree person – cross out all else in those columns.This puts (F) at R4C3 and the tree person at R3C2 (cross out intersecting squares), narrowing (D) to R9C1. (B) takes the last square at R1C5, (C) at R5C4, and since (G) can't be in a corner he's at R3C2.This leaves the last square R6C8 for (V) – hence (C) is the murderer.
