Only D is on a path cell, so G can only be in the 4 northernmost cells of THE DESERT. I must also be in THE DESERT and share the region with exactly one other person — who can only be G. Therefore E can only be in the two sand cells of THE BARRELS. Cross out all sand cells except the two where E could be. A must be one row south of someone on a flag. Assume A is in R3, then the flag in R2 can only hold I. Since A is in R3, B can only be on one of the two chairs in R10. B and E together occupy C7 and C8, so cross out everything else in those columns. The general clue says exactly one person is beside a table. Only ENTRANCE has a table, and both table-adjacent cells are in C9. Cross out every other cell in C9. The general clue also says exactly one person is beside a barrel. Only C10R5 remains beside a barrel, so cross out every other cell in that column and row. At this point all flower-adjacent cells have been crossed out, leaving H with no valid position. Therefore A is not in R3 — A must be in R10. Then B is fixed on the chair at R3. Since A is definitely in R10, the flag in R9 must hold one person. Cross out every other cell in C1 and R9. R1 must be G, and I must be in R2. Cross out everything in THE DESERT except the R1 and R2 section. (The rest is up to you — keep trying, and don't peek at the answer too soon!)
